Graduated with an MA in Intermedia Art from Tokyo University of the Arts in 2008, Aiko Miyanaga (born in 1974) is known for her naphthalene sculptures of commonplace objects, and installations using materials such as salt, leaf veins, and the sound of glaze cracking on freshly fired ceramics. She visualizes time by tracing signs of its presence and expresses the idea that, “the world continues to exist through constant changes.”

Recent exhibitions include a solo show MIYANAGA Aiko -Wrapping a verse (Toyama Glass Art Museum, 2023), a solo show MIYANAGA Aiko-Read the Sea (ZENBI (Kagizen Art Museum), Kyoto, 2023) and WORLD CLASSROOM: Contemporary Art through School Subjects (Mori Art Museum, Tokyo, 2023). She received the 70th Minister of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology Art Encouragement Prize for New Artists (Fine Art) in 2020.
